I never thought I would be that mom to test out the Melted Crayons but here I am! I am that mom that has a little girl who absolutely loves to break every single crayon she lays her hands on.
It’s almost like an addiction, or like some sort of therapy for her. She gets her hands on crayons, will color for a few seconds and then it begins, she’ll break it in half.
Peel of the paper and then start breaking them into pieces. And she loves to do this alone in a quiet space, in the corner of her room or under the table where nobody can see her.
Over the years I would throw the broken crayons away but this year I decided we were wasting too much by doing that. After seeing how one mom melting the crayons I decided to start collecting them.

Below you will find several ways you can recycle broken crayons and make use of them.
1. Recycle Your Broken Crayons using Fun Shaped Molds
I did the simplest method of just:
- peeling the crayons,
- breaking them into smaller pieces and putting them into a star shaped mold (As thats all I could find).
- Put them in a heated oven (not more than 350 F) until melted
- Leave out to dry in a cool place
- Take out of mold and they are ready to use!
They came out gorgeously ombre with a rainbow of colors and are easy to grip and use.
I gathered together some more creative ways to use melted crayons below:
