Afra is a compassionate, labor and postpartum doula, and baby wearing coach who provides physical and/or virtual emotional and educational support to pregnant and postpartum mothers looking to be more present, peaceful, and positive. Her unique expertise and ability to connect and care for mothers helps to reduce their overwhelm so they can focus on nurturing a beautiful and sacred mothering journey.
Afra has a corporate background. Before having children, she was a work-a-holic who worked long hours. She had a full social calendar with free-lancing gigs and gym time filling up any empty spots in her calendar. All this changed when she had her first baby in 2013 and decided to dive, head first, into motherhood.
As a stay-at-home mother of three wonderful young children herself, she has experienced first hand, the raw, unfiltered, beautiful, and absolutely consuming aspects of motherhood. She entered into birth work as she herself entered motherhood with a room full of gifts, but not really knowing how to prepare for birth, what she actually needed, or what she should do or say at the hospital to advocate for herself. Her passion for maternal care grew out of her own understanding of what an impact the right kind of support can make to mothers in the prenatal and postpartum period all the way through early childhood. She started off with her blog in 2016 called Through Mama’s Eyes to help and support other mothers. Her blogs are about topics ranging from pregnancy and birth, to breastfeeding, babywearing, motherhood and beyond. Since then, she has established a community of mothers who turn to her for support and advice throughout their journey in motherhood from all across the globe.
Along with Afra’s extensive training as a doula, she also has broad knowledge about natural wellness as she uses and sells her own essential oil blends to aid in the relief of various symptoms. She spends a great deal of time researching holistic healing and meditation and as her newest venture, she has created Zen Mom, an online program to support overwhelmed mothers with managing their stress.
Join her journey as she continues to empower mothers from all over the world to embrace the challenges and beauty of motherhood.
